The Courageous Challenge 2024

Helping to Empower Communities to Stop Suicides

Since 2016, the Courageous Challenge has been the cornerstone annual fundraising event for Stop Suicide USA. This event found a new home in 2020 when the Cadets of the University of North Georgia (UNG) took it to the next level.

The Courageous Challenge 2024 promises to be even bigger, with Cadets and Greek organizations joining forces to raise critical funds for suicide prevention intervention and training.

Before partnering with UNG, Lumpkin County’s suicide rate was alarmingly high, at times reaching 215% above the state average. Thanks to our efforts, this rate was halved by 2021 and fell below the state average for the first time in over a decade in 2022. These statistics affirm our impact, but maintaining and expanding our efforts is crucial. Thus, we continue our mission of suicide prevention education with unwavering dedication.

The Courageous Challenge returns to the University of North Georgia for the 5th year on April 19th. The Cadets have teamed up with Greek Life for the biggest event yet.

Thank you for joining SSUSA in the mission to eradicate suicide.

Together we are stronger!

Your generous support makes our mission possible.

Our interventions include offering crisis counseling to families, conducting mental health workshops in schools, training first responders to recognize and respond to suicide risk, and creating safe environments through community outreach programs. Each of these efforts is made possible by your generosity, helping us save lives and foster hope.
